Noobow

It is pleasant when you're reminded that not every experience needs to be some great epic. Sometimes a game can just lean heavily into the charm of a big blobby main character. Rather than pitting you against waves of enemies, or even just puzzles that will have you scratching your head, it can be refreshing at times to just have a simple plaything. Noobow is a game that understands this thoroughly, resulting in an experience that is just as much 'virtual pet' as it is 'puzzle platformer.'
Sure, the gameplay may fail run laps around graphing calculator-esque games like 'Block Dude,' but it delights in other ways, such as inviting the player to stop, pick up a stick, and play fetch with a dog for a moment. The levels are short, sweet, and held together tiny concepts paired with cute payoffs. Along the journey, we are introduced to a few friends--including a mole in need of a shower and a bird struggling to take flight. Ultimately, Noobow is a great example of how art direction can carry the day when other elements may be lacking.
It certainly isn't 'must play' material once it is all said and done, but it is a nice thing to have in your life.
