Soul Hackers 2

Pretty solid on the vibes front, it was cool that it had designated 'hang out' events. You could just like chill at the base and have a meal with the group. a lot of it felt disjointed though. There were some sick futuristic portions of the game and then that would be contrasted by the majority of the dungeons being like a drab office building or a run of the mill shipping yard. There could certainly be something to be said there thematically, but it really just resulted in the main segments of the game taking place in boring locales. There was almost zero sense of exploration in these places, but given how normal the environments were, that is almost a positive.

I thought the characters were pretty well realized, the two main characters dealing with what it meant to be humanized ai's and that leading them to different places was enough to keep me interested. Meanwhile, the overarching plot of the game--grab these five made up things and the world will be saved--failed to utilize the characters and vibe they'd otherwise set up.

Overall a weird game, not sure i'd full heartedly recommend it, but it wasn't a bad time

head on home
